The Angel of Tarut (The Magi Saga) by Andrew Dobell
In the middle east, a western traveler encounters someone who changes his world forever.
Angel of Tarut is interesting - I think - it has an idea but its extremely short length and lack of actual story snagged me preventing me from really following. Could be better used as an opening to an actual book. (maybe possibly is I don't know however because I have not read the rest of the series)
