Looking Inside by Beth Kery
Are you just going to stand there and watch?
Eleanor Briggs just can't help herself. Every night, the sight of the man in the high-rise across the street is driving her wild. She longs to feel his touch up close and personal. To win him over, she'll need to shake off her wallflower sensibilities and become the seductress she never imagined she could be. The only trouble will be finding the perfect way to meet him...
Or are you going to join in?
Sex is easy for millionaire entrepreneur Trey Riordan. Finding something of substance, however, seems impossible. That is until a simple night of reading at a local coffee shop becomes something far steamier when a beautiful brunette comes by and leaves a note telling him to look out his bedroom window at midnight. But when the time comes, neither of them will be truly ready for what follows.
Looking Inside kind of feels like a desperate move to snatch a rich guy for playtime with some side plot added in but okay. After finishing the book I still had a lot of mixed feelings about it. There were parts that I liked, parts that intrigued me, parts I didn't like so much and others I really didn't like at all which only added to my confusion about how I felt toward the ending of the book.
Despite the get - together through most of the story it felt as if the fantasy was a better option than the actual interaction because it was so emotionally vacant. Bodies moved, bodies screwed but when it came to feeling I wasn't really feeling any of it from either El or Trey. It felt too automatic too robotic without a whole lot of emotional substance for me to really grasp onto.
I didn't particularly care for either of them as a couple or as individuals however the sex is hot, the story itself written well and the fantasies are hot but there's a little bit of annoyance mixed in how I felt because none of it had any sense of romance to it. Yet that somehow sort of flips in the last few chapters which again confused me. Suddenly they had emotion, they felt alive but by then it felt a little delayed for me and left me wanting as a reader. I can't really put my finger on why this wasn't a five star read for me other than the emotionally hollow interactions but its still worth the read.
