The Sight (Devil's Isle #2) by Chloe Neill
Claire Connolly is a Sensitive, infected with magic when the Veil that divides humanity from the world beyond fell.
Magic can easily consume and destroy a Sensitive, and if Claire’s secret is discovered she’ll be locked into the walled district of Devil’s Isle along with every other Paranormal left in the city.
Bounty hunter Liam Quinn discovered Claire’s secret, but refused to turn her in. Together they saved New Orleans from the resurgence of magic that nearly destroyed it.
But now a dangerous cult is on the rise, and it will take both Claire and Liam—and magical allies within Devil’s Isle’s towering walls—to defeat the occult threat before magic corrupts them both..
I really enjoyed The Sight. I enjoyed the characters and the world, and it wasn't difficult to follow along in the middle of everything because Neill does a beautiful job allowing new readers to dive right in without feeling lost on what's taking place.
Of course I highly suggest to start with the first book but its not required to know what's going on if you haven't had a chance yet which is great because there is plenty of detail to keep you in the know.
I especially like Liam and Claire because they make such a strong couple, they aren't well developed however you can tell that they're both on the same page, you can get a sense of Liam's loyalty to Claire and as a reader you can really kind of relate to and respect Claire as a person and you begin to understand all the conflicting emotions she has during her struggles.
Which is why I like that her interactions with Liam have chemistry but not unrealistic sexual build up. I like that it allows her to process where she's at mentally and emotionally without adding too heavily on the burdens she already carries.
That in itself really won me over about Liam because he's the guy. That wins me as a reader.
I love Neill's world, I love her cast, I love the plot. I think everything in this book is fantastic. I highly recommend!
