On His Blindness (Whitehall Season 1 #3) by Barbara Samuel

Whitehall - Episode 3: "On His Blindness" - Barbara Samuel, Liz Duffy Adams, Delia Sherman, Mary Robinette Kowal, Sarah Smith, Madeleine Robins

A king and queen wage a war of wills in the third installment of Whitehall, an episodic royal tale full of true history and sensual intrigue, new from Serial Box Publishing.

The honeymoon is over as Charles and Catherine cross swords over the matter of his sultry mistress. With her eye on a lofty position in the queen’s inner circle, Barbara’s manner of persuasion proves pleasurable for some and painful for others.

This episode is brought to you by Barbara Samuel, who could persuade the devil himself.

"On His Blindness" continues the 13-part serial, Whitehall, presented by Serial Box. Intrigue, romance, and scandal fill the palace halls in this historical tale, collaboratively written by Liz Duffy Adams, Delia Sherman, Barbara Samuel, Madeleine Robins, Sarah Smith, and Mary Robinette Kowal.

My Review:

Tension rises in this third installment as Catherine, the King and Barbara all butt heads as Catherine tries to establish more control of her surroundings and Barbara tries to assert her own form of control by manipulating her way into Catherine's inner circle.

Again, I had to set aside actual historical expectations and maintain that this was purely unstudied fiction.

I think I enjoyed this installment a lot more than the previous one but again I felt it was a little bit short on development and detail which I wish had been a bit more but when you're involved with a serial there tends to be minor skipping for lack of page space to rush readers from point a to point b.

I would really like to see this serial brought together as a whole cohesive book with more fleshing and detail. I think it would be fantastic.
