Viper Game
I received a print and digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley/Jove.
I was happy to see a novel get back to Wyatt but at the same time on another end I kind of wish we would get a book that explored more stories or with more depth both Whitney and the original crew because I feel like we as readers are losing touch with what started the series to begin with. I know Christine is expanding the world of our Ghostwalkers and showing just how vast it is but at this point its pretty evident already how massive it is and how far it goes. I would like to see an exploration into Whitney on a deeper scale because I have a feeling there is so much there that could be brought out with twists that many don't expect including if we got to have more of Lily and Ry, Nick and Dal... everyone - because I feel like we are losing touch with the whole purpose of its origins and the emotional dilemmas, and the insane plot that created it all.
Readers are having to wait too long between installments, we get a lot of repetition of the same conversations with different characters in the various books but I really don't feel like we are moving forward with any of it. More and more of the outcasts are coming together and finding eachother and we get tiny tidbits and snippets but we aren't getting that same explosive plot surge we used to get like we did in the first book- Shadow Game.
That's not to say that I didn't enjoy Viper Game because I did. I always enjoy Christine's work but I would love to get back to the roots of the story so that we can stop being stalled out.
