Sweet
I received a print copy in exchange for an honest review from Berkley / NAL.
Sweet is the second book in the True Believers series. I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I felt the writing was strong, I enjoyed the interaction of the main characters when they were together but for me personally I didn't care for the mentality of Jessica and Riley bored me.
I felt the book was more YA geared with NA/Adult content in it, but overall the self centered immaturity and under developed understanding of adult relationships aggravated me. Erin is a wonderfully talented writer that is able to create believable characters and a believable story which exasperated me because I wanted so much to see Jessica come into herself and grow - which speaks volumes of how well Erin writes because writing something that real can be very difficult, even more so when you are tying to emit a certain emotion from a reader. I respect the woman as a creator. I'm impressed. I just couldn't seem to get into the story or the characters. It took me forever to finish the book and I almost didn't. All in all Sweet was an okay read but I don't think I will be reading more books from the series.
